Site Name: Haven Of Demons
Site Description: Plot:
The Super-Bug, Super Grippe, call it what you will. A century ago, one strain of the common Influenza mutated in a horrifying matter. It began in a small town in Muenchen, Germany, and, unable to be contained through vaccines, the virus began to spread rapidly, leaving a wake of death. It wasn't long before it spread throughout the rest of Germany, and as people tried to escape, it was spread to other countries as well.
Once the officials realized what was happening, a quarantine was ordered for any country affected. It was far too late, however, and societies all over the world were struck by this dreadful virus. Societies and governments crumbled, and a panicked chaos gripped the world.
Living became the greatest priority, and religion, beliefs, and the such took back seat to the will to live. Seeing this world, where humans would do anything to live, and no longer cared about what would happen to them in the afterlife, the Demons pounced.
Ever wily, they knew how to get into the humans' minds, and all over the world contracts were formed. Humans sold their souls, their eternities, for the chance to beat the virus and live. The demons kept good on their promises.
Meanwhile, the Shinigami, the Death Gods, watched as the demons claimed souls for their own. Knowing that there would be no afterlife without the souls of humans, they sought to intervene. And so, they too, began to form contracts with humans. Like the demons' contracts, these contracts came with the promise of health. However, the Shinigami did not seek to take the soul of the humans they made a pact with. In fact, they simply formed the contracts to make sure the humans' souls would be pure, and allowed to pass to the afterlife, as it should be.
With the two forces among the humans, the virus was stopped in its tracks. But its legacy still lives on to this day. With a crumbled world, those left over tried to rebuild what they could. Even with the help of the demons and Shinigami, many failed.
Now, the population has still not recovered to its full strength. While some people were able to escape to the suburbs, even to the country, and establish some home for themselves, most of human kind live in the crumbled streets and cities. Money and government is a thing of the past. Now, people trade for their foods and goods. Cities are only ghosts of their past, now full of crumblings buildings and ruins. In many places, nature has begun to take over, from vines trailing up a building, to grass on what used to be roads.
The areas of the world are quite isolated as well, although the occasional ship does pass over the oceans. True country borders are a thing of the past, however. Although many people still call their respective countries and cities by name, they are no longer separate. The world is one big place now, if separated in some areas by the oceans.
So welcome, oh traveler, to the world. Are you a human, lost without company? A demon, seeking a contract? A shinigami, seeking to prevent the total destruction of the human spirit? Whatever you are, welcome to the Demon's Haven.
