Name: Kyana
Age: 14
Nation of Origin: Southern Water Tribe
Gender: Female
Bender: Waterbending Prodigy
Group: Water Tribe citizen
Appearance: Kyana looks a lot like most of the women of the Northern and Southern Water Tribes. Her soft skin is light brown and her long hair is black. She wears some of her hair held up in a bun and the rest of it pushed over her shoulders. The one thing that really sets her apart is her distinctive eye color; rather than the bright cerulean of her brethren, her eyes are a light blue marbled with gray and silver.
Her clothes consist of a sleeveless light blue tunic ending a few inches above her knees with dark blue baggy pants underneath. Also, two black bracelets cling to her left and right shoulders, one bearing the water tribe's emblem.
Personality: Kyana tends to be a "go-with-the-flow" kinda girl. Usually calm and in control, she dislikes the ignorance in people. However, Kyana is adaptable and soon learned to ignore it. She loves to explore and often ventures into the cold, snowy expanse of the South pole. She has always wanted to try penguin-sledding, but thus far has been to afraid to actually try it. One thing to remember is her strength of will and loyalty to those in need. She will do whatever needs to be done to protect those in trouble, anything. On an everday basis, she likes to find new things to do. She isn't the most popular of people, but also not the lonliest. One of her most important traits is her intelligence. Many times over her friends and family members would constantly tell her how smart she was, and after a while she started to get annoyed by it, so she had to tell them to stop.
Waterbending is pretty much her passion. Since very young, she was intrigued by the beauty and gracefulness of the water around her. That said, she takes her training very seriously when others are around. When bending, she sometimes closes her eyes to better hear and feel the push and pull of her element. With mastery of the formal waterbending education, Kyana has developed her own form relying heavily on the back and forth motion of ocean water. Sadly, the only real opportunity she has to practice is on the creatures of the pole, such as penguins or young tigerseals.
And now we get to her fears. If you must know, her main fear would most likely be the world entering a time of war once more. For obvious reason of course. Though that doesn't stop her from doing the things she wants to do. A lesser fear of hers would be having to hurt someone. Not meaning giving them a cut or bruise, I mean literally hurting people in their core. She would never say anything cruel or mean just to hurt a person's feelings, but, on very few occasions even she can't control her anger. Luckily, as said earlier she is in control over herself, meaning both physically and mentally
History: Born to Southern tribesman Naya and Beto, Kyana lived a fairly comfortable life. Both of her parents have been great sources of inspiration in her life, and she admires them greatly. Her mother was well known in the Southern Water Tribe for her beauty, gentleness, and sophistication, and her father was a strong-willed man with an excellent sense of humor.
As a child, she would sit with her parents along the loading docks watching the water for hours.
Among her earlier years, she would sit alongside her father and mother, and watch into the water. It was always so relaxing. Some of her fondest memories involve the strength of her parents' marriage, leading Kyana to dream of finding a relationship like theirs.
When Kyana was seven, while watching into the water one day, she noticed a small fish swimming about. She reached her hands outward as if to catch the fish when all of a sudden it was encased within a block of ice , using bending for the first time.
As was typical in the tribe. She was sent to be taught by a master waterbender in the tribe. She was ready to learn waterbending to it's fullest extent. Upon entering the master's training area, she was already asking to learn. The master said she would first have to understand what waterbending was about, what the principles and rules to it were. So after the first month of studying she was ready to learn. The first principle of waterbending to learn for her, seeing as she was a girl, would be healing principles. The first few months of training were difficult as she was having trouble finding the right movements to healing. Yet the master saw something in her, something different. After only two years of training, she had mastered the basics of healing. The master, hastily decided to teach her the advanced healing methods, and was stunned to see her master them within another year. At age ten she was already a master healer but wanted to train even more, she didn't want just to heal.
She wanted to help protect her tribe from any threats it may face. So she asked her teacher to teach her the more offensive style. He agreed and after a few months of study, they began to train. When first controling the water she felt in control. After two years of hard training she'd mastered the basics of the style and was ready to go on to the advanced techniques. Two more years later, she was entitled "Master Waterbender". She was emotional that day. She felt successful, honored. The feeling was unspeakable.
As of now, she has been practicing her own techniques and creating new forms. Whatever happens in the future...she'll be ready.
Rp Sample: Sometimes I wonder...was it at all worth it? For so long i had thought that by following this path I was doing the right thing, only to find out how horrible the truth could be. To be honest, even if this nation could become just as the others, maybe forgiven for the wrongs it has done, I wouldn't be able to except the change. Violence is what we are known for, and alas, will be what we are known as in history. They say everything happens for a reason but what could ours be?
Maybe I should start from the beginning, from the rise of our nation all the way to the war it has engulfed upon the world....
"Shyla!! Come here quickly!!" calls out Arin, a close friend of mine. "You've got to hear this!! Word is that a new nation has been formed!!" Arin was always a sweet girl, kind and so full of excitement. Which now when I look upon it, grieve as I recall future events. "Shyla? What're you doing?"
Sitting by the edge of a pond, with my fingers twirling the water inside the pond, I looked toward the girl. I think I was happy. It's hard to think that once i was actually happy, but anyway back to my story. " Just a minute, I'm playing." I remark with a smile. "Wait a minute a new nation?"
"You bet! We should go check it out!! I can't recall all the details but it's because of the discovery of a new bending art."
"Would that be a good idea? For all time there've only been four nations...a new nation would mess with the balance wouldn't you think? Maybe we should just leave it alone."
"But you could finally learn to bend! Maybe this is the element for you!!" She says with a quick smirk. "C'mon it could be the chance you were looking for!!"
With a quick, yet long decision i decided to follow my friend. For so long I'd dreamed of learning to bend, but everytime i tried to learn it went down horribly, a year trying to bend water, another trying earth and two more for fire and air. I'm not sure if it was my desperation that made up my mind, or hope. About an hour and minutes later we arrive at the land soon to be made of the new nation. All that was there now were maybe three tall buildings a dozen smaller ones circling them. In the distance was a tall, muscular-looking man. His face had many features, eyes so dark brown they looked black, his lips were thin as they stretched when he spoke, the most noticeable and maybe memorable would be the scar he bares from the end of his right eyebrow across his eye onto his nose. Weirdly, his hair was short and looked fire nation styled . He wore a purple robe with black, very black, ragged bottoms, and a black armor peice on his chest.
It seemed he was arguing with members of the other nations, but not ordinary members. These were the leaders. The chiefs of the Southern and Northern Water Tribes, The Earth King of Ba Sing Se, The Fire Lord and Lady of the fire Nation, and the Air Monks of the Northern, Eastern, Southern, and Western temples were all caught in a very loud argument. I hid alongside Arin against a building maybe a few feet across from them.......
