Mei looked quizzically at the young prince; she hadn’t the slightest idea what he was talking about, though she could clearly hear the anger in his voice. She glared at the prince as he finished speaking and moved her fan from her face, “Whatever the tax increase is, is fine with me.” She replied, though she had no idea what they were talking about, “Taxes are taxes, and I have enough wealth to pay…” she stopped speaking, now starting to think about the situation more. Why would the prince care about some silly tax increase, and why would he sound so distraught over the whole thing? She slowly returned her fan to the front of her face and giggled, “Tell your father that I’ll speak to him in more depth when I don’t have to give an answer through his son.” Mei waved her fan at the prince playfully, “I’d hate to use big words, and confuse you.” Mei turned and looked to Takumi, “Politics can be confusing sometimes, can’t they…” Mei stopped speaking, realizing she had forgotten the man’s name, “Oh I’m terribly sorry, I seemed to have forgotten your name already.” She forced a fake laugh, though she didn’t really care about the man’s name, she just wanted to butter him up.

Takumi flashed a light smile at the lady. "It is quite alright, Lady Tan. I am not a very memorable person after all. It's Takumi." He glanced curiously at the prince. "Confusing, indeed..."
Why the prince was so agitated was a bit of mystery for himself as well. He got so immediately after Mei Tan had read the letter, so Takumi could only guess her joy from such didn't please him. Perhaps he wasn't aware of his father's dealings then. He smiled.
"I have no doubt Lady Tan possesses the money to cover tax increases, Prince Fong," Takumi chucked softly, bringing his wine glass to his lips. "Yet... aren't you curious at all as to where she could reap such surpluses? You should share with us your secret. How do you do it? Your control of the market is uncanny; almost perfectly so. What would be the strategy to your success?"

Kassa watched the conversation between the prince, Takumi, and Mei with little interest. It would seem that they were speaking of politics, a topic she had little control over, and little care for, as important as it was. She sighed lightly, crossing her arms and casting her gaze over the other party goers. Many were slowly becoming more and more intoxicated, being bold in their talkings and quite loud. The redhead leaned against the wall, her eyes dulling with the boredom she was feeling. It was for reasons like this that she hated parties, adults were so boring. She wouldn't have said no to a party with other people her age, but such things were 'unacceptable for someone as important as she'. And unfortunatly, now that she was here there was no way she could leave. The fire sage would not be done for some time, she doubted Mei would allow her out of her sight, and Takumi wouldn't be terribly happy about her wandering off by herself either. Still, the thought was tempting.
She held out her hand, creating a small fireball in the process. Then, waiting for the political talks to subside, she cast it about between her hands, playing a small game of catch with herself.

Kio’s eyes arrowed as the woman confirmed that his father had lied to him, and thoughts ran through his head of his father doing anything to please this woman. “What was on that letter that was so bad he had to lye to me?” kept on racing through his mind, he decided not to show anything more on the subject. “I am sorry again, but it would seem that I have something else to worry about aside from the crime rate of the city” Kio was no fool, he had seen the people harassing his father and he knew his father would go to greats lengths to quell the people and keep the peace, but this was unthinkable. “Miss Tan, it would seem this party is getting quite loud; you would think you would step in considering the state of the guests? I mean you wouldn’t want someone to get hurt in you’re care yes?” Kio decided that instead of letting his anger free all at once he would try to play mind games with the woman, trying to come between her and the avatar; whom she made it so obvious she wanted for herself.
Kio smiled as he seen the avatar tossing the fire back and forth, lightly tapping his foot he lifted a small amount of pebbles from out side and earth bent them inside. Controlling their movements with his index finger he caused them to circle around the fire she was playing with. It was simple but he did it in a way to remind her that he wasn’t leaving her out of the conversation or forgetting she was there. “She must be bored, a bunch of royals and diplomats talking about government issues.” He thought as he made the pebbles start to spin faster.

Mei scowled as she listened to the prince speak. Lecturing her on how she should keep order at her own party, it was enough to make her drop her meek demeanor and fight him. She paused, thinking about the outcome and how it would look if she, a noble woman, attacked the prince. She sighed and waved her fan in her face, cooling herself off. It wouldn’t do any good to get hotheaded now, not when her plan was almost complete, and when she had received such good news.
“I apologize for the noise your highness, but my guests are simply enjoying themselves. It can’t be helped I’m afraid. Who am I to stop someone’s fun?” She giggled playfully, faking of course, and looked away from the group towards the door that had the children within it. It wouldn’t be long now. In a few short minutes she’d check the room, and pretend to be shocked when the children were missing. Then it was just a matter of crying, and so on to make it seem as if she had no part in it.
She looked back to the group, directly at Takumi, though she wanted to stare at the small fireball that her soon to be prize was flinging about. “Takumi…” she said smiling at the young man, “Where are you sleeping tonight? I hope not in the dreadful hotels of Ba Sing Se. If you would allow me the pleasure of allowing you to stay within my home for the night I would be honored.” She’d thrown the bait, now all she had to do is wait for Takumi to accept, and then proposition the young Kassandra’s guardian, though that wouldn’t be hard.

Takumi smiled. "I'd be honored, Lady Tan. I hope to not be a burden."
It was a great opportunity to take a peek at the inner workings of her operation. He realized this generous invitation was only because of the avatar and though he didn't wish to drag her into his affairs or the affairs of Mei Tan; this was too advantageous an opportunity to ignore. He honestly didn't expect the avatar to stay with him, but there must be some reason Mei Tan would extend an invitation to himself before ensuring Kassa - her main objective - would be with him.
He glanced at Kassa automatically and was amused to find her entertaining herself. He didn't think she'd be terribly interested in their conversation, but seeing her so blatantly ignore them was quite refreshing after years of simpering, slaving fools throwing themselves at his feet and pretending to be awed by every gesture and word he said. He admitted he liked this about her; it was different.
He noted the pebbles floating about her ball of flame and looked at the prince. He seemed kind, if not a bit impatient with the hostess of the party. He was the righteous type, it seems. His tactless hostility spoke as much. All the same, Takumi found he liked this difference about him as well.
